Scholarship Details

The Tongarewa International Scholarships are prestigious awards offered by the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand to celebrate the university’s commitment to its international student community.

These scholarships recognize academic excellence and provide financial support to outstanding international students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees.

The scholarships are awarded competitively, with recipients demonstrating strong academic records and leadership potential. They aim to foster global connections and diversity within the university, creating opportunities for talented individuals to contribute meaningfully to their fields of study and the broader academic community.

Requirements

• International students who are paying full international fees
• Applying for the scholarship for the trimester they are commencing their studies in (i.e. if you enter your studies in Trimester 1, please use the Trimester 1 scholarship application)
• Entering their first year of an undergraduate degree or entering a postgraduate degree.

You will not be considered for the awards if;

• You completed your secondary education at a New Zealand school.
• You completed the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or Foundation Studies Programme;
• You are a Study Abroad or Twinning student from one of our overseas partner universities.
• You are in your second trimester or year of study in the same degree programme at Victoria University of Wellington.

Application Procedure.

Applications open one month before the closing date. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4:30 pm on the closing date for the application to be considered.
